PPM Mandate
The Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Group within CERN’s Site and Civil Engineering (SCE) Department is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects that support the Organization’s scientific and operational activities.
We manage a diverse and evolving portfolio of projects, including underground structures, experimental facilities, office and laboratory buildings, and utility infrastructure. Our mandate covers the full project lifecycle - from strategic definition, feasibility and design, through procurement, execution, and commissioning - ensuring that all works are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability.
Working closely with internal clients and external partners, we bring multidisciplinary coordination, transparent project delivery, and international best practices to every project. We apply robust project management methodologies and contract strategies (based on FIDIC contracts), and we promote the integration of sustainable design principles and certifications such as BREEAM, WELL, and Minergie.
With a strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and long-term value, the SCE-PPM group plays a key role in shaping the built environment that enables CERN’s scientific excellence.
