Declarations or theft or loss of an access card have to registered, as soon as the facts are known via the Declaration of loss or theft form or at the Service Desk

Found objects

All found objects must be handed in to the Service Desk (Meyrin site, building 55, 2nd floor), during CERN working days from 7.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. Outside these hours, to the security guard on duty at Gate B, Building 533 - Meyrin site.

A found object report will then be recorded on a ticket with the following information:

  • place where it was found
  • date found
  • name of the depositor
  • detailed description of the object

If the owner is identified, the Service Desk will contact the owner directly.

CERN allows a time limit for the safekeeping of lost and found items, depending on their nature. For example, official documents, payment/travel documents, medical certificates, medicines and any health-related equipment will be kept for 15 days. After this period, these lost and found items will be sent to the competent authorities, the issuing bodies or disposed of.

All other items will be kept for a period not exceeding 13 months.
